Some of our ‘Old Favourites’

February 12th, 2010

We have worked on some great projects over the last ten years and it seems a shame to confine the pictures and talents to the archives. Instead, we will regularly show some of our own ‘Old Favourites’.

Fabric Wall Hanging. Wood Green,  London

This was an enormous project across all ages and abilities, including Special Needs children.  The project was to make a hanging that would be on the wall for a year and could be dismantled to give the children their own work back at the end of the display.

Staircase Project, De Bohun Primary School, Enfield

We have worked with this school on many occasions and all of the work has been stunning. This was a silk painting project that lined the staircase.  Every child had an individual silk painting stitched onto a banner. Beautiful work and fond memories.

Kids and Cardboard, Enfield School

This was huge and messy and utterly creative.  we worked with the five and six year olds to make large cardboard boats – lots of tape and mess and imagination.  You’d be amazed at what the smallest children can do.

Textile Quilt, Edinburgh Primary School

Over six mornings the class printed and cut and stitched.  They attached bits and buttons and then we quilted their work for them – it looked just stunning.  We worked with these children for three years and this is one of their many beautiful works.

Wall Mosaic, Essex

Last but not least this was an enormous project.  330 children and staff all had their own panel built into this mosaic wall to celebrate 50 years of the school. It was a labour of love on all sides with a fine result to show for it all.

October 19th, 2009

Judy and Lydia had a day with all of the children in the school to do some printmaking based on ‘Materials and ‘Houses and Homes’ where the children made two communal streets, one each for KS1 and KS2. A lovely child-centred and friendly piece of work.  The children did a great job and were really pleased with themselves.

Continuing Professional Development

October 19th, 2009

We worked alongside two Primary School Art Specialists in their classrooms in the Meldrum Network of schools to advise on and demonstrate printing techniques that could be rolled out over a number of weeks with the children. In total 12 schools were visited and the work was specifically geared to how the specialists timetables were organised – a tailor-made project.
