Mosaic project

These mosaics will go into the school playground and celebrate the outdoor classroom that the school has recently constructed. All designs are done by the children and composed by Briony. Each class had a naturalistic theme to work to. We’ve put a lot of images up here as it was such a large project.

Stepping Stones

The children in the nursery spent a morning working with Briony to stick their glass pebbles and shapes onto brown paper. These were then cast into concrete and the nursery set them into their garden for the children to walk along. They gleam in the sunshine and sparkle in the rain.

This hanging was made to go into the school hall and was made over a few days, with a group of older children making all of the print boards and stencils from their own drawings and then the whole school printing onto fabric using the boards.

Manor Special School in Brent, London, made this mosaic with some of their children. They worked with two of our artists, taking the design from their school logo and turning it into a lovely and unique piece of work.

Rayne North Primary School

We headed back to this school again today to work with the children and their art teacher for a second time, having done their mosaic project with the oldest children last year. Today we worked in batik with every child in the school, aged from 5 years to 11 years. These mini-artworks will be worked on at a later date in the school to be turned into permanent projects.

Revisiting Rayne North School to see the mosaic their oldest children made last summer in situ in the school vegetable garden, which is a perfect spot for it. A very lovely design chosen from a set done by the children.
